Your Next Stamp June Fave Blog Hop Card Video

Hello fellow card makers.

Today is the June Faves Blog Hop with Your Next Stamp. We were told to use our favorite Your Next Stamp products to create our hop projects. I can not pick a favorite. To go along with the theme of the hop, I picked one of my favorites from the last release. I used the NEW Beach Day die set. This set is fantastic. I have used it a bunch and on different styles of cards. It is a very fun, very versatile die set. It is perfect for summer.

I started with a piece of Neenah 110 lb cardstock. I took the MFT mini cloud stencil and some Distress Oxide Ink in Salty Ocean and ink blended some clouds for my background. I also took that same ink blended panel and sprayed it with Hero Arts Iridescent Shimmer spray to make it very shiny. To complete the background I cut it down with my favorite Your Next Stamp Stitched Rectangle Die (second from largest).

For the front panel, I also took a piece of Neenah 110 lb cardstock and cut it down with the same stitched rectangle. I also used the MFT Porthole die to cut out the porthole aperture. I cut out several of these portholes from the same Neenah cardstock, including one from Neenah 80 lb Desert Storm cardstock. I adhered them all together using Lawn Fawn Glue Tube adhesive. I used the NEW Wave Panel Die from Your Next Stamp and embossed it into the front panel using my Sizzix Big Shot.

I then used the NEW Beach Day die set from Your Next Stamp to cut out the palm tree also from Neenah 110 lb cardstock. I used some Copic Markers to color the palm tree.

To put it all together. I added double sided tape to both sides of scrap craft foam that I needed to use up and arranged it double thick behind the front panel. I removed the adhesive backing and stuck it to the ink blended background. I used Stampin' Up! adhesive foam strips to the porthole to give it a bit more dimension and adhered it in the open hole in the card.  I then added Scotch 3M foam adhesive to the back of the palm tree and placed it in the center of the porthole. Now, it appears like you are looking out from the boat onto a peaceful island oasis.

To finish off the porthole, I added Stampin' Up! enamel dots that are sadly no longer available. You could easily use brads for this or Nuvo drops.

I cut the word Hello from a Your Next Stamp Scripty Words die set four times and adhered the layers together using Ranger Multi Medium Matte adhesive. I use blunt tipped syringes sold in my Etsy Shop to get small amounts of precision adhesive onto the delicate word die. Once all the layers were stuck together. I also adhered it to the bottom left of my card front.

Your Next Stamp Challenge #91

Hello fellow card makers.

Today I am sharing with you my card for the Your Next Stamp challenge #91. Your Next Stamp hosts a biweekly sketch and/or color combination challenge over on the YNS Blog (CLICK HERE!) to visit. Have a look at the sketch and color combination below for this week's challenge.

This week, I was mostly inspired by the sketch but ended up staying the the realm of the color combination as well. I was really inspired by Melania Deasy from the MFT Stamps design team by her awesome use of the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots Background stamp as well. You can see her blog by (CLICKING HERE!) To me, the sketch appeared square, so the card I made is 4 1/4 by 4 1/4. The card base is cut from a piece of Simon Says Stamp Fog cardstock. The card base measures 4 1/4 by 11 and scored at 4 1/4.

I used the second from largest Your Next Stamp Stitched SQUARE!, lol, you thought I was going to say rectangle, didn't you? I used it to cut a piece of Neenah 110 lb cardstock for my card front. I then used the circle die from the My Favorite Things Jumbo Peek a Boo die set to cut a circle in the center of my card front.

Behind the front panel, I placed a piece of Lawn Fawn's Merman that I had stamped with the My Favorite Things Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots Background stamp with Distress Oxide ink in Evergreen Bough. I also ink blended the top to appear darker using the same Evergreen Bough ink and a Ranger ink blending tool. I cut this pice the same width of the front panel but I cut it slightly longer. On the long end, I used an old EK Success scalloped border punch to mimic the scallops from the sketch. I'm sorry, but I couldn't find this border punch in order to link it, but you can find many things online to get the same kind of look.

I attached Scotch 3M foam tape to the back of the Neenah panel and popped it up on the polka dot ink blended background. I added strong double sided adhesive tape to the back of the new assembly and centered it onto my square card base.

I stamped my image from the Puddles of Fun stamp set by Your Next Stamp in My Favorite Things Hybrid ink in Cement. I stamped it onto a piece of Simon Says Stamp Fog cardstock. I have seen many crafters over the past few months stamp floral images and color them with Faber Castell Polychromos. I don't color very many flowers, but I wanted to see if the same process could be used with critter images or even people to get another level of vibrancy from the pencils.

I then colored the image using my Faber Castell Polychromos. I absolutely loved how the color was enhanced by the light gray of the cardstock behind it. I am still learning how to use my Polychromos but every since I colored this image, I can't stop stamping them on the fog to make them come alive. I love how the image turned out, but I do think that it get lost on the background of this card. I'm not sure, what do you think? It too is layered with foam tape.

I stamped the sentiment onto yet another piece of Fog cardstock with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Zing Charcoal Embossing powder. I cut down the sentiment with the largest of the Heffy Doodle Strips of Ease dies and popped it up with foam tape.

Heffy Doodle June 2018 Release Blog Hop

Hello fellow card makers.

Today is an exciting day. We are celebrating the Heffy Doodle's NEW June 2018 Release. This release is so AWESOME. I think Lesley did a great job. I love everything about it, but if I had to pick a favorite, then I would totally pick the Shellabrate stamp set which is the NEW freebie with a certain purchase amount. It has the cutest little turtle and a heart that you can stamp right on his back to make a little turtle heart tattoo. Its the cutest!

For my hop project, I'm using the NEW Teacher's pet stamp set and Teach Me Words stamp set. I've also incorporated the NEW Numicon stencil.

I started with a piece of Neenah 110 lb cardstock cut to 3 1/2 by 4 3/4 and the Numicon stencil taped securely to my Tonic Easy Clean Mat with Thermoweb Purple Tape. I used Distress Oxide Inks in Candied Apple, Wild Honey, Twisted Citron, and Cracked Pistachio blended with ink daubers through the stencil. I used all of the colors in a circle patterned blending to the middle. That piece was then set aside to dry.

I used the My Favorite Things Jumbo Peek A Boo Window die set to cut an aperture through the front panel and then made into a shaker window. I used some of the smaller stamps in the Teacher's Pet stamp set like, the A+ and the 2+2 and the ABC stamp. I inked them with Hero Arts Wet Cement ink in various places on the front. I did use Taylored Expressions Cherry Pop to ink up the A+ (like the teachers do). I then stamped the "Best Teacher Ever" sentiment from the Teach Me Words stamp set. I used the same Distress inks from the background. If you would like to see me making this card on video, I've linked my YouTube video creating this card below.

I cut a piece of Lawn Fawn's 6x6 Really Rainbow paper pack down to 3 1/2 by 4 3/4. I used the simple circle die from the MFT Jumbo Peek A Boo Windows die set to cut a circle into the patterned paper. Than I took a piece of Lawn Fawn's Cilantro cardstock cut down to the same dimensions as before but this time I used the scalloped circle die to cut into the cardstock. This way you can align the patterned paper piece in front of the piece of Cilantro and you can see the scallops pop out from behind the circle. I then cut a piece of acetate to live behind it to create the window to my shaker card.

Once I adhered all of my layers together, I then began to adhere two layers of foam tape behind the window panel making sure to create a well for my sequin mix to live. I'm using Kindred Stamps Sequin Mix called Balloon Adventure Shaker. I added a few scoops and then fixed my ink blended background to seal in the shaker bits.

I stamped the sub sentiment with Versamark ink onto Lawn Fawn's Black Licorice cardstock. I used Hero Arts Ultra Fine white embossing powder to heat emboss it. I then used Heffy Doodle Strips of Ease die to cut it out. I stuck it to my card front using Scotch 3M foam adhesive.

The entire front panel is adhered to a A2 sized card base cut from Simon Says Stamp Fog cardstock. I used double sided tape along the back of the panel to make sure it stays on the card base with all of the added shaker weight.

As for the adorable images from the NEW Teacher's Pet stamp set, I stamped them onto a piece of Neenah 110 lb cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I masked the teacher before stamping the students to make it appear as though the students are holding the teachers hands. I colored them using my Faber Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils. I cut out the images and adhered them under my shaker window using foam tape.
