The One with the Catherine Pooler Designs Birthday Cake and Date Night Inks

 

Hello everyone. Today I have a project using Catherine Pooler Designs Birthday Cake stamp set. I created this haphazard masterpiece using the NEW Date Night Inks from Catherine Pooler Designs.     These inks are fabulous and the NEW colors are a fantastic addition to the Party Collection of inks. My favorite combo so far is Pucker Up, Chiffon, and Serenade. This combo of hot pink, muted yellow, and lavender are so fun to use together. Although, I think I used all the colors except In the Park on this particular card creation. I know, I regret not throwing in a green candle... what can you do?

Background:

    

    I started with a piece of Neenah 110 lb. Solar White Classic Crest cardstock cut to 3 1/2 by 4 3/4 inches. I masked off a line using some painter's tape and grabbed the NEW Catching Rays ink and an ink blending brush. I wanted to blend a little light in my background for my cake to sit in front off. I used a light hand and added just a touch of this beautiful color.

Sentiment:

    For the sentiment, I loaded my background into my Mini MISTI as well as the "Happy Birthday" stamp from the same Birthday Cake stamp set by Catherine Pooler Designs. I stamped it directly onto the background using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink. 

Focal Image:

    I love the wonky nature of this cake and all of the fun elements in this stamp set. You can create all sorts of fun whimsical designs with this set. I decided to use my favorite combo to ink blend some stripes of colored icing on my cake. 

    I used the coordinating die for this set to cut the largest layer in the Birthday Cake set. I cut it from Neenah 110. I then used the same painter's tape as before to mask off all but a small strip of space at the bottom of the cake to add my color. The first row at the bottom is Serenade. For the next row I masked both the top and the bottom to isolate yet another row for Pucker Up. Last but certainly not least I used Chiffon for my last row of colored icing. I left the top crisp white. 

For the candles, I went to town stamping most of the Date Night ink colors with both candles from the set. I elongated a few of them by stamping them twice on top of one another. The candles that I intentionally made longer will need to be cut out by hand or some other way because now the die won't be long enough, no bother. I used the Chiffon for the fire portion of the candles. The all turned out to be easy enough to cut out considering they were mainly straight lines. The most stunning candles ended up being the Drive-In ink color, and I made sure to keep them right up front. 

Assembly:

    The background panel was placed onto a piece of white craft foam, that is cut slightly smaller than the panel itself, using double sided adhesive tape and then added to a light gray A2 size portrait style card base. The cake itself is popped up using foam tape. Many of the candles in the front where added using liquid adhesive.

The One with the MFT Stamps January Vault Release Card Projects

 

Hello everyone. Today is the latest release from the My Favorite Things Vault and I have a few cards that I used as samples in the vault release videos which were posted on the My Favorite Things YouTube channel and blog. The One with the MFT Stamps January Release Card Projects.

Hello everyone. Today is the launch of the MFT Stamps January release and I have two basic cards to share with you. I made these quickly as I was putting together this month's reveal videos, but I actually like them so just in case anyone else does, here is what I used (for the most part). I really should get rid of the cardstock that is no longer available but it’s just too pretty to let go of. So I did have to supplement a few colors but that’s no big deal. 

I used the NEW Color Wave Cover-up for the first card along with the NEW My Galentine stamp set. For the second card, I took some liberties with the NEW Heart Lines die-namics and rearranged the lines to make it look like it’s dripping or broken. The same My Galentine stamp set was used for the sentiment.
