Lawn Fawn's Chirpy Chirp Chirp! an Easter Card with video

Hello fellow card makers. Today I am sharing with you a card I created using Lawn Fawn's Chirpy Chirp Chirp stamp set and coordinating dies. I am also entering my card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, Anything Goes.  I had a lot of fun making this card but it took a long time. I did a "no line" coloring technique on the images using Memento's Desert Sand ink.  I also used several inks to stamp the eggs. I really had a blast making this card. I have always loved decorating eggs for Easter, and these eggs are no exception. If only I could get my kids into doing it on paper instead of hard boiled eggs... Oh well, below is a photo of my card, a complete list of supplies, and a link to my You Tube video.

Supplies:
Stamps:
Lawn Fawn, Chirpy Chirp Chirp and Love Letters (paint splatters)

Dies:
Lawn Fawn, Grassy Border

Distress Ink, Tattered Rose, Dried Mariogold, and Twisted Citron (background) and Ground Espresso to warm up the base and the grass.

Mid Century Thanks

Hello fellow card makers. Today I am sharing another card and yes, another video. I'm still learning, but I am enjoying myself and to me, thats all that matters. My card has a mid century feel to it. I used some pattern papers I have been hoarding for a few years. this pack of 6x6 patterned paper is by Basic Grey and it's called Hipster. I used the colors from these papers to pick my ink colors for the stamping. I love stamping. I mean, stamping with no coloring, I need to do more of this. I am using Simple Flowers by Altenew. Here is my card and a full list of supplies are listed below.

Supplies:
Stamps:
Altenew, Simple Flowers

Dies:
MFT, Thanks

Ink:
Taylored Expressions, Dijon, Potato Chip, Sweet Basil, and Poppy Seed
Hero Arts, Neon Red, and Wet Cement
PTI, Aqua Mist

Cardstock:
Taylored Expressions, Poppy Seed (card base and sentiment)
Stampin' Up! Speckled (front panel)

Ink Cube Storage

Hello fellow cardmakers and crafters. Today I am sharing with you my new ink cube storage.

I buy ink cubes for a few reasons. First, I like to have ALL the colors and I don't have a room completely dedicated to ink storage. I like to have other supplies in my craft room. Second, I like to take my ink pad to my stamp for inking. I can do this easier with a small cube instead of the larger full size ink pad. Some inking techniques lend itself to the smaller ink cube, but that is for another blog post. Lastly, they are so stinking cute, come on, look at those little cubes, aren't they adorable? It all started with Stampin' Up! and their Stampin' Spots- they were my first ink purchase about 13 years ago. They have since been replaced with newer brands.

I know what you're thinking, more ink is better, and the cube doesn't have enough ink. Well, thats why I buy the re-inker.

re-inker storage
So, my craftroom is made up of many pieces from Ikea, Target, and office furniture stores. My ink, is stored in an Ikea Alex drawer unit (the short gray one). I searched high and low for the best way to organize them, so that they can stay in this unit which lives under my work surface, in close range, and easy to grab.

First, I found a plastic bead storage container. I got the idea from kwcarddesign. You can click on that link to find her blog. I originally stored my ink cubes this way. But I found it irritating to have to get out the container, open the container, grab the color I want... It just got in my way. So, I started looking for another option.

original method
I found these foam inserts at Close to my Heart. They are made for their plastic storage container systems, but I didn't want another plastic container, so I ordered them to just sit in my drawer. So far, so good. I can open the drawer, grab what I want and not have anything else in my way.

new foam insert

The insert measures 10 3/8 x 14 3/8 and it holds up to 40 ink cubes. It is rigid enough to pull out on its own. I plan to stack 3 in a drawer. One on either side and one to stack on top of whichever one isn't being accessed at the moment. That is 120 ink cubes per drawer!!! Ya'll better start making more ink cubes!!!

thick foam rigidity

blending foam storage

The bad part is that my Distress Inks, that I use to ink- blend, well, I store the Ranger foam pads under those ink cubes. When this occurs, the ink cube does not sit down into the little square as good as without it. I haven't decided how big of a deal this is to me or not at all. I just thought I would mention it. If I come up with a solution for this, I will let you know.

If you have any questions or need additional photos, just let me know, I would be happy to share.

Thanks for visiting my blog today,

Kori

PS. I ordered directly from Close to My Heart online. I do not have a CTMH Consultant.

The Color Throwdown #425

Hello fellow cardmakers. Today I am playing along with The Color Throwdown #425. Here is a look at this weeks color palette.  The colors this week are black, mustard, and blue.

My card today was a bit of a disaster, lol. In the end, I like the way that it turned out, but not as I originally thought. I used Your Next Stamp's, "Waddles Food Truck Fun". Food Trucks are big where I live in the warmer months. We actually have "Food Truck Tuesday" at our local Fire House. Anywhere from 5-10 Local Food Trucks come, and people from all over flock to eat their delicious food. I live just outside of Annapolis, Maryland.

I originally intended for this to be a top folding, A2 size card, which is why the background is all oriented in that direction. As I went along, I liked my focal image oriented in a landscape fashion instead of portrait. So, here it is, my oddly stamped background that I refused to re-stamp. Long live imperfections.

Supplies:
Stamps:
Your Next Stamp, Waddles Food Truck Fun

Ink:
Distress Ink, Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Pumice Stone, Black Soot
Memento, Tuxedo Black
Hero Arts, Unicorn White
Hero Arts, Soft Granite

Cardstock:
PTI, Stampers Select White
Stampin' Up!, Basic Gray
Simon Says Stamp, Black
Ranger, Distress Watercolor Paper

Embossing Powder:
Simon Says Stamp, Fine Detail White

Other:
Copic Markers

Thank you for visiting my blog, until next time,
