Your Next Stamp ⎜ July DT Dare ⎜It's a Guy Thing ⎜Card Video

Hello fellow card makers...

Today I am sharing with you my project for the Your Next Stamp July DT Dare. This month, we were challenged to create with the theme "It's a Guy thing". I am using Your Next Stamp's, Krash the Horse stamp set. As soon as I saw this set, I knew that I wanted to create a race horse card. Maryland is big on horse racing, my mother actually grew up riding and only stopped a few years ago because her knees no longer allowed her to do it. You can find this set as well as the rest of the July re-release by Your Next Stamp... CLICK HERE!... at the Your Next Stamp Store. Don't forget to visit the Your Next Stamp Blog... CLICK HERE!... and be sure to leave a comment on the DT Dare Post for your chance to win a stamp set of your choice.

I created a slider card today. A horse racing slider card... Wooo whoo! I used some Distress Inks in both the original and oxide variations to ink blend my background. I then cut out the front panel of my card using the Your Next Stamp Stitched rectangle die set. I stamped three horses and clear heat embossed them to color with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. After I cut them out with the coordinating die, I attached one to a slider element by MFT and the others where adhered via foam tape or tape runner in their perspective race positions. The sentiment, also from Krash the Horse stamp set, was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black to finish it off. For Photos of my card, a link to the YouTube Video creating this project, and links to the supplies used, look below.

Paper Smooches Big Hugs Card Video

Hello fellow card makers. Today I am sharing with you a card I made using Paper Smooches Products. I used Paper Smooches Huge Hugs 2 Stamp Set and Paper Smooches Hibiscus die. I cut my card base down from a piece of Taylored Expressions Poppy Seed cardstock to 8"x 4" scored and folded at 4" to make a 4"x 4" card base. The Simon Says Stamp Fog Cardstock front panel is cut slightly smaller and popped it up with a piece of craft foam. I used Neenah 110lb Solar White Cardstock to cut out the Paper Smooches Hibiscus Die six times and adhered them together. I inked the flower with a variety of Distress Ink. I stamped the sentiment with Taylored Expressions Poppy Seed ink, then added some Grey Mist Nuvo Drops. Photos of my project, a link to my YouTube video, and links to the supplies I used are below.

A Beauty and the Beast Card Featuring Sweet Stamp Shop with Video

Hello fellow card makers. Today I am sharing a card that I made with Sweet Stamp Shop products . I used stamps from both the Prince Charming stamp set and the Wear a Crown stamp set. Using these stamps I created a card that reminds me of the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast. The main image on the card is reminiscent of the flower from the story. The background was created using similar images of an empty flower stem and some roses and falling petals. I recently saw a card made by one of MFT's design team members, Joy (Simple by Design), that created a custom background by white heat embossing images in this same way. I was inspired by her card to create this one. Below are photos of my project, a link to my YouTube Video, and a complete list of supplies.

The first card I created I used Glossy Accents all over the image to make it appear like glass. I didn't like how it turned out and re-colored the image, this time forgoing the use of the Glossy Accents. I'm not sure if it was a great move. I would be interested in hearing your opinions. Leave a comment below or on my YouTube Video letting me know which one you prefer, the with or without Glossy Accents.

Lawn Fawn's Chirpy Chirp Chirp! an Easter Card with video

Hello fellow card makers. Today I am sharing with you a card I created using Lawn Fawn's Chirpy Chirp Chirp stamp set and coordinating dies. I am also entering my card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, Anything Goes.  I had a lot of fun making this card but it took a long time. I did a "no line" coloring technique on the images using Memento's Desert Sand ink.  I also used several inks to stamp the eggs. I really had a blast making this card. I have always loved decorating eggs for Easter, and these eggs are no exception. If only I could get my kids into doing it on paper instead of hard boiled eggs... Oh well, below is a photo of my card, a complete list of supplies, and a link to my You Tube video.

Supplies:
Stamps:
Lawn Fawn, Chirpy Chirp Chirp and Love Letters (paint splatters)

Dies:
Lawn Fawn, Grassy Border

Ink:
Memento, Desert Sand

Distress Ink, Tattered Rose, Dried Mariogold, and Twisted Citron (background) and Ground Espresso to warm up the base and the grass.

Papertrey Ink, Limeaide Ice and Classic Kraft

Patterned Paper:

Guest Star Stamper for The Color Throwdown #427

Hello fellow card makers. I am so excited because today I am the guest star stamper over at The Color Throwdown #427. The color palette for this weeks challenge are mint green, pink, and aqua. Click here to get to there most recent challenge. Here is a look at the color palette and inspirational photo.

I love these colors. They really are some of my favorites, but I found it hard to create with them this week. I'm not sure why. Somehow, I managed to come up with this...

This is my take on this weeks challenge. I love the look of dipped feathers, it is just so beautiful to me. So, awhile ago I bought this stamp set from Stampin' Up! and its coordinating dies. I die cut my feathers out of some aqua cardstock. I them stamped them with detail images in Versamark just to give it a slight detail. To create the dipped look, I used a foiling technique. I used a toner marker to draw where I wanted my foil to adhere. I found that the toner marker was kinda hard to work with. This was my first try at foiling and I'm going to keep trying other methods. I found this method not only to be messy and inconsistent, but I wasn't real happy with the way it turned out. I used my laminating machine to heat up the foil. Maybe it was a combination of toner coverage and not enough heat on the project. I will keep trying because I love the look of foil and I want to be able to use it on future projects.

Once I had my feathers "dipped" I then wrapped some mint colored embroidery floss around the quill of the feather as if it actually where dipped into paint or dye. I knotted them together to hang them on my card, to create the focal image. I molded them to appear more like they where free hanging and 3 dimensional.

The front panel was created from a light pink cardstock. I blended some Distress ink, in Worn Lipstick, around the edges to create the vignette around the feathers. I adhered the front panel directly to a gray top folding card base. After adding some sequins and a sentiment that seemed more than fitting, my card was done. A complete list of supplies is below.

Supplies:
Stamps:
Stampin' Up! Four Feathers
MFT, Adorable Elephants (sentiment)

Dies:
MFT, Blueprints 1 Die-namics (front panel)
Stampin' Up! Feathers Framelits

Ink:
Distress Ink, Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar
Versamark
Hero Arts, Unicorn White

Cardstock:
Avery Elle, Aquamarine, Pixie?
PTI, Soft Stone (card base and sentiment)

Embossing Powder:
SSS, Detail White

Other:
DMC 6 strand embroidery floss, 3817
Hedi Swap Minc Foil, Rose Gold
Darice, Iridescent Clear

The Color Throwdown #425

Hello fellow cardmakers. Today I am playing along with The Color Throwdown #425. Here is a look at this weeks color palette.  The colors this week are black, mustard, and blue.

My card today was a bit of a disaster, lol. In the end, I like the way that it turned out, but not as I originally thought. I used Your Next Stamp's, "Waddles Food Truck Fun". Food Trucks are big where I live in the warmer months. We actually have "Food Truck Tuesday" at our local Fire House. Anywhere from 5-10 Local Food Trucks come, and people from all over flock to eat their delicious food. I live just outside of Annapolis, Maryland.

I originally intended for this to be a top folding, A2 size card, which is why the background is all oriented in that direction. As I went along, I liked my focal image oriented in a landscape fashion instead of portrait. So, here it is, my oddly stamped background that I refused to re-stamp. Long live imperfections.

Supplies:
Stamps:
Your Next Stamp, Waddles Food Truck Fun

Ink:
Distress Ink, Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Pumice Stone, Black Soot
Memento, Tuxedo Black
Hero Arts, Unicorn White
Hero Arts, Soft Granite

Cardstock:
PTI, Stampers Select White
Stampin' Up!, Basic Gray
Simon Says Stamp, Black
Ranger, Distress Watercolor Paper

Embossing Powder:
Simon Says Stamp, Fine Detail White

Other:
Copic Markers
